Pulled out the cucumber and zucchini today, although I could have done this 2 weeks ago. I planted Sugar Snap peas along the west and north side fence, and Melting Sugar on the north and east fence. In parallel to the peas I planted a row of lettuce (closest to the peas), Spinach, and then Kale. As an experiment in fertilization, on the east side, I dug out the dirt, and replaced it with Miracle Grow soil. On the north east corner, it is just regular garden soil, but along the north, the soil is heavily mixed with peat. On the west, the Humus that was covering the Zucchini stem, I put into the soil.
I also heavily pruned the Old German Yellow tomato plant, in hopes that it would encourage the tomatoes to ripen. I cut off all the growing tips, as well as a lot of branches that didn't have any fruit on it.
